I do not know if you have a community on orkut....if no, I guess you should start one and spread awareness.

All the best.

Just a suggestion - Why restrict it to Street Harassment only? How about expanding the field a bit and including Sexual Harassment of women everywhere , at work, at home and in public places ?

restricting it to street harassment for various reasons

1. we call it EVE TEASING- a joke? a PRANK??
2. we experience it everyday- base our lives around it.
3. we silently accept it, we are taught to believe its NORMAL.

While we understand that there are many many issues we have to deal with in our lives, and that its all inter-connected, we would still like to focus on eve teasing, just because its not issue enough....?

I really like this idea.Let's hope this becomes the mouthpiece for everyone to speak against eve teasing.

I support this project whole-heartedly. I am interested in knowing what we are upto with this. I know we are spreading awareness, building up a movement ... but upto what? What is our mission statement? Having a Law made for eve-teasing? or are we in the process of discovering what we can do? Just curious.

My $0.02

<<note: this is ONLY about the "harmless" or verbal-only version of eve-teasing>>

I think that many (if not most) guys who would indulge in the "harmless" version (non-physical-contact versions) are actually pretty nice guys to begin with, who've been WARPED by the "Indian Culture" of shirking away from EVERYTHING involving relationships/sexiness/sex.

Don't anyone give me the CRAP that it is our culture ... the existence of Kama Sutra and the Sculptures on the temples in Khajuraho are PROOF that the Indian culture actually is PRO-all-the-things-that-we-are-against-now.

What do you think about this?

hey, i just found your site and i think you guys are awesome. i am not an indian citizen, but an american-born indian, yet i have had my own experiences with this type of abuse when i have visited. my sister, who was only 8 at the time, was getting her hair cut in a bangalore barber shop, and she was inappropriate touched on her crotch by the guy cutting her hair. she was too young tounderstand at thetime, but we left immediately. i have never before been witness to such a blatant act of sexual assault. i hope you succeed in your mission of raising awareness and banning this type of behavior. many well wishes.
